Damn, September 5th as the release date for STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl looked pretty stable, but now GSC Game World has to put the brakes on and add some time.
It was only in January that GSC Game World set the date for September 5th, and the silence that followed, coupled with new trailers, gave hope that it would be kept this time. Well, that was unfortunate, because GSC Game World has now announced a postponement after all. At least there is one consolation: it remains at 2024. STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl is now finally scheduled to be released on November 20th, 2024.
The reason for the delay: bug fixing. “We know you might be tired of waiting, and we really appreciate your patience. These two extra months give us the opportunity to fix more ‘unexpected anomalies’ (or simply bugs, as you call them). We are very grateful for your support and understanding – it means a lot to us. We are as excited as you are for the game to finally be released and for you to experience it for yourself,” says Yevhen Grygorovych, Game Director at GSC Game World.
At least there is a small consolation, because GSC Game World and Xbox want to present you with an extensive deep dive into the game on August 12th. And it won’t just be a trailer, but a whole package of content, some of which hasn’t been shown yet.
Interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the game’s development are planned. But there will also be an overview of the game world, material on various locations, as well as gameplay and cutscenes. There will also be a video walkthrough of a story quest. So it sounds like the developers want to give you some really deep insights into the game.
Well, let’s hope for the best that the November release finally works out. STALKER 2 – Heart of Chornobyl has already had to deal with a whole series of delays, mainly due to the Ukraine war and the associated relocation of the studio.
