STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl won’t reach its full potential when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass on November 20, 2024. But improvements are coming.
STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl should already be in the hands of Xbox Series X|S and PC players. But the course of history decided otherwise. The Russian-led war in Ukraine hit the development and teams hard. In this conflict, the studio unfortunately lost one of its talents on the front line and fell victim to a fire in its premises. All these things have led to the release being postponed many times, but logically there will be no more delays, even if that means that certain elements will have to be finalized later.
Improvements are already in sight for STALKER 2
The last major gameplay presentation of STALKER 2 Heart of Chernobyl caught the attention of post-apo enthusiasts. In this area, we can trust that GSC Game World will satisfy the fans of the first installment. The real disappointment will perhaps be the entire graphic and technical aspect, although some will accept it without difficulty. And anyway, it will continue to evolve even after the release on November 20, 2024. During an interview with Wccftech, Lead Producer Slava Lukyanenka revealed that STALKER 2 will feature ray tracing via a software solution. Hardware ray tracing, on the other hand, will come later.
But STALKER 2 is already selling us dreams with big promises about the next new features. During this interview, Zakhar Bocharov, press spokesperson, also confirmed the addition of a multiplayer mode after the release. “It will be available with an update after launch. But for now, we’re making sure the single-player game is as successful as possible.”.
In their endeavor, developers may end up getting help from the community through mods, a feature found in a number of PC games and will be added to STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl at an unknown date. « The original trilogy is already compatible with Mod.io. But the modding scene is a bit of a wild west at the moment and we are looking for a way to structure it all. There are solutions like Steamworks, Mod.io. […] We want this to be available as soon as possible after release, but we cannot guarantee that it will be ready for release ». STALKER 2 will be released on November 20th on Xbox Series X|S and PC and is included in Xbox Game Pass.
