What exactly is in Alpha 3.14?

We summarize the new functions of Star Citizen Alpha 3.14 for you here.

New Orison landing zone: The dreamy yet futuristic cloud city Orison is the central hub of the planet Crusader. This network of connected platforms floats in orbit near the gas giant and is held in place with thrusters. Orison’s style is based on the USA of the 1950s.

New ship: The transport ship version of the RSI Constellation is called Taurus and finds its way into Star Citizen with Alpha 3.14. You can see what the boat looks like here:

Neue Cloud Tech: The new technology for volumetric clouds on the planets should create a more realistic look, changing visibility and, last but not least, atmosphere. The sunsets look pretty impressive in the video.

Spaceship and vehicle control: New functions are intended to improve the flying experience in Star Citizen. This includes Power Management v2, which rebalances the previous system. In addition, there are the capacitors, with which players from Alpha 3.14 of Star Citizen can regulate and manage the amount of energy that flows into the ship’s systems such as weapons, engines and shields.

New »Canvas Slice HUD«: The new user interface in spaceships is intended to maximize the viewing area and provide pilots with a better overview. In addition, the new system will make it easier for developers to install manufacturer-specific HUDs in the future.

New mode for missiles and torpedoes: A dedicated flight mode for guided missiles should give the player more control to select and fire specific missiles. In addition, the weapons now make use of the Intelligent Flight Control System (IFCS), which should increase control and performance.

Scans, Pings und Radar: Star Citizen wants to improve exploration and discovery and make the education of the environment more exciting. The radar gives players an overview of their immediate surroundings, while scans provide information on specific targets. The ping, on the other hand, reveals additional targets in the area.

Surrender-Option: Players will soon be able to surrender to security forces through the Law System v2 in order to avoid the destruction of the spaceship and the death of the character. To do this, you stop the ship and shut down the systems when ordered. Then it’s off to jail.
