Good news: Star Citizen has finally decided to show off Squadron 42’s single player mode in full, with the added bonus of a studio-announced release window.

This game, which immerses players in the vast Star Citizen universe, stands out for its more accessible single-player approach, offering a more compact and narrative experience. After years of development and numerous delays Cloud Imperium Games has now announced a launch window for 2026.
An extended CitizenCon preview for Star Citizen
The annual event CitizenConorganized by Cloud Imperium Gamestook place from October 19th to 20th. During this conference, developers presented news, updates and of course a full hour of Squadron 42 gameplay. This long-awaited preview concluded the first day of the event and allowed fans to truly immerse themselves in the world of gaming.
Before we dive into this gameplay sequence, Chris RobertsCEO of Cloud Imperium Games, took the stage to answer an important question: What has the team done since the game was declared Feature Complete? Roberts explained that this is what the team is focusing on now Polishing and optimizing to ensure the game meets the high quality standards that both the team and players expect.
A captivating story with an all-star cast
For explorers Season 42The game promises a single-player adventure with an estimated playtime of between 30 and 40 hours. You play as an inexperienced UEE pilot and embark on a mission that combines space and land combat. The story takes place on a massive naval ship, where you interact with other characters and build relationships that influence your progress.
