Star Citizen's Idris becomes your home base in the single player campaign Squadron 42. And the players are eagerly waiting for it to be built into the game. Alpha 3.9 almost fulfilled this dream with a bounty mission against the frigate. Now it is shifting to Alpha 4.0 in the second quarter of 2020.
Why does the Idris come later?
In the "Arlington Bounty" mission you might not have boarded the huge ship yet, but you could have fought it. A small group of very dedicated players called Evocati could even try this battle on the test servers. An early release was therefore likely.
Tests revealed defects: As the developer explains in the roadmap roundup of April 3, 2020, the mission does not yet meet the team's expectations. This is how it should "not feel as good as desired". Since this is the first battle against the long-awaited ship, the developer wants to do a lot of polishing. That is why it was decided to postpone it.

What makes the Idris so special?
In Squadron 42 is the title-giving squadron 42, and with it yourself, stationed on the Idris. Between missions, you can freely explore the frigate and talk to the staff. So it is for Star Citizen, which is the Ebon Hawk for Kotor or the Normandy for Mass Effect.
The Studio Cloud Imperium Games showed a first fully textured and playable version already in 2017. And the ship has also been in the game files of the Alpha for a long time: In 2018, a modder even managed to spawn the ship and take a closer look.

Refineries offer some comfort
The community on Reddit is somewhat disappointed with the move. However, they also find comfort: Because while the Idris is being moved, it dives Refinery gameplay back on the roadmap
From Alpha 4.1 – which will appear in the 3rd quarter of 2020 – you can hand in your ores collected from mining in rest stops and have them processed. In addition, there will not only be new mining equipment, but also special ones Missions related to mining.
The players hope for one completely new gameplay loop, where the miners dig valuable materials on the planets and moons to refine them in the rest areas. At the same time, this creates a lucrative business for pirates who can intercept the deliveries. This brings law enforcement officers onto the scene, which makes the game's law system important and the Klescher Automated Prison, which appears at 3.9, can also serve a purpose.
