- A first teaser trailer also tunes in to the end of “Star Trek: Picard”.
The second season of “Star Trek: Picard” is currently flickering across the Amazon Prime Video screens. Season 2 is followed by a third and final season on the US streaming service Paramount+ before the series about Admiral Jean-Luc Picard comes to an end – and Sir Patrick Stewart says goodbye to his well-deserved “Star Trek” retirement.
The third season of “Star Trek: Picard” will have a very special treat in store for fans. As Paramount+ announced today, Starship Enterprise: The Next Century stars LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Gates McFadden (Beverly Crusher), and Michael Dorn (Worf) will star in the third installment of the series.
Also joining the cast are Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Marina Sirtis (Troi) and Brent Spiner (Data), who appeared in the first two seasons of “Picard” (with Brent Spiner taking on a total of 3 different roles and in Season 2 embodies the character Adam Soong).
The announcement came in the form of a first teaser trailer for the third season of “Star Trek: Picard”. Watch the video with the voices of LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden and Michael Dorn here:
“It is most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends with a tribute to the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the USS Enterprise,” said Terry Matalas, showrunner of Star Trek: Picard Season 3 , on the occasion of today’s announcement (via TVLine).
The date of the teaser trailer premiere and cast reveal is also not random. The first contact between mankind and the Vulcans took place on April 5, 2063 in the “Star Trek” universe. This can be seen in the movie “Star Trek: First Contact”, in which the crew of the USS Enterprise, led by Jean-Luc Picard, undertake a journey through time.
