They returned for the first time in the first season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and were the villains in two episodes. Now another return of the Gorn has been announced in the season premiere of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Season 2. Admiral Robert April (Adrian Holmes) fears a war on two fronts.
While Spock (Ethan Peck) avoided a war with the Klingons, a confrontation with the Gorn seems inevitable and the war appears to be about to begin near the planet Galdonterre. But what else can we expect from the return of the Gorn?
The episode titles for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” season 2 are already known and in particular the eighth episode title seems to refer to the return of the Gorn: “Under the Cloak of War”. The episode was also written by Davy Perez, who was responsible for the Gorn episodes in the first season.
In addition, it is assumed that in the final episode of the second season, which is entitled “Hegemony”, a return of the Gorn can also be expected, since the term hegemony in the “Star Trek” universe is often mentioned with the Gorn: Gorn Hegemony.
In the trailer for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” season 2 we already see a confrontation with the Gorn. La’An (Christina Chong) once again battles the reptilian aliens. Also, Spock is walking on the damaged outside of the saucer section and something is attacking him from behind. Is it the Gorn?
What’s interesting here is that seven years later, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) meets the Gorn, but at this point no one knows what the Gorn look like. In the first season, this logic gap was circumvented by having the Enterprise crew only fight juvenile Gorn or even children. Will we only have to deal with young people again?
We will surely find out more in a few weeks. If our theory works that the eighth and tenth episodes are dedicated to the Gorn, we still have a little time until we meet again and can look forward to other adventures with Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and Co. on Paramount+.
New episodes always appear on Thursdays, one episode per week. The new SNW season consists of ten episodes. In late summer it will then continue with other “Star Trek” releases!
