Andorra in brief
Andor is an American series by Tony Gilroy, the co-author of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and intended for the SVOD Disney+ service. This 12-episode program officially takes place in the Star Wars universe and serves as Prequel to Gareth Edwards’ film (Monsters, Godzilla) in 2016. As the title suggests, Andor focuses on the character of the same name – Cassian Andor – and is set 5 years before the events of Rogue One in 5 BBY (5 Before the Battle of Yavin). Enforce purists.
Diego Luna, executive producer of the series, unsurprisingly reprises the role of Cassian Andor alongside Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen Rael), Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero) and Kyle Soller ( Syril) and Fiona Shaw (Maarva). Andor presents the life of Cassian’s character, both his early youth and the years before he joined the Rebel Alliance which will lead him to carry out the suicide mission narrated in Rogue One and ultimately destroy the Death Star at the end of Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope.

The best Star Wars live-action series?
We’ll be careful not to give a definitive opinion on the Andor series, but that has to be acknowledged the new program, branded Star Wars and destined for Disney+, keeps all its promises for the time being
Like the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor leaves the time of a spy story in an age of Jedi Wars and the Force to focus on another part of the saga…survival within the Galactic Empire. Cassian Andor’s past is addressed in such detail, and so is his encounter with what will become the Rebel Alliance. This orientation allows this new adventure to avoid the trap of fan service in favor of an exciting and very enjoyable story.
For the rest, the actor Diego Luna perfectly takes on the role of Cassian Andor, a character less determined than in Rogue One and surviving from day to day but still just as imaginative. The other members of the cast give him the answer with accuracy, turning a lonely journey into an epic epic between discretion, manipulation and armed extortion. The Andor series takes the fundamentals of Rogue One, develops the lore of Star Wars and offers the franchise the chronicle of a shadow soldierChronicles just begging to grow beyond the episodes.
