The time has come on November 21, 2024. Then Star Wars Outlaws will receive its biggest update yet, Patch 1.4. According to their own statement, the developers want to revise some core areas of the game with the update.
After patch 1.2 on October 4, 2024 already tweaked the intelligence of the opponents and Kay’s skill, there are now three other aspects on the agenda – and the changes could fundamentally change the feel of the game.
Three areas are being revised
In a blog post The developers write that the changes are being made based on player feedback. The developers describe what exactly needs to be revised as follows:
The first important area where we want to improve the game is combat. Here we see a real opportunity to add more depth and excitement to the experience and to reward tactics and precision even more. Our second focus is stealth, which is not only about improving the readability and consistency of enemy detection, but also about giving you choice in how you approach each encounter. Our third focus is character control, which means we’re improving cover reliability, increasing responsiveness when climbing and crouching, and improving overall control consistency.
The text goes on to say that even more announcements await fans:
You can look forward to learning more details about how we’ll celebrate player choice more than ever before, whether it’s sneaking through encounters, charging into battle with the blaster, or everything in between lies. We will share more details about the changes in these and other areas in the coming weeks as we provide further updates to you.

Star Wars Outlaws – test video for Ubisoft’s open world adventure
Neuer Creative Director
The blog post also reveals that Drewrechner will now serve as creative director for Star Wars Outlaws. Calculator has taken over the position from Julian Gerighty. It is not clear from the post whether Gerighty is still involved in Star Wars Outlaws.
Julian Gerighty was only appointed executive producer for the “Tom Clancy’s The Division” brand at Ubisoft in September 2023, after previously being game director for The Division 2. On his account with Xformerly Twitter, at least Star Wars Outlaws is still listed in the description.
Update 1.4 will be released together with the first DLC Wild Card on November 21, 2024. The Steam release of Star Wars Outlaws is on the same day. The declared goal of developer Massive Entertainment and publisher Ubisoft is to get more players excited about the title during Black Friday and the Christmas season.
At least that was what emerged from an internal Ubisoft communication at the end of September. The reason for this is the title’s sales figures, which fell far short of the publisher’s expectations.
