After the harsh criticism of Star Wars: Battlefront II, the relationship between Star Wars and Electronic Arts was further strained when the publisher discontinued further game projects. With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order there is now a very successful title for single players, especially the once prominently announced solo adventure by Visceral Games remains negative due to its sudden attitude.
This game, the cessation of which was associated with the closure of Visceral, was known internally as Project Ragtag. Assets of the title were supposed to be used for another game at EA Vancouver, but this Star Wars title with the project Project Orca is no longer being pursued.
In addition to these two known shots, EA is said to have even stamped a third Star Wars game in the recent past; at least that's what the usually well-informed colleagues report about Kotaku, The title was there fore developed under the code name Viking and was considered a spin-off to Star Wars: Battlefront. Actually, a launch timeframe suitable for the next-gen consoles had been followed this year, but this title should not be published at all.
In addition to EA Vancouver, Criterion Games is said to have been involved in the development of the game up to the end. According to Kotaku, if it had been released, we would have expected a battlefront spin-off with a number of open world elements and a stronger focus on characters and stories. However, problems are said to have arisen at an early stage, which can be attributed, among other things, to the removal of Criterion in Great Britain and EA Vancouver in Kanda. Too many cooks have generally spoiled the broth, it is said.
Since the title would not have been finalized until the release of PS5 and Xbox Series X, EA finally canceled the project in the first half of 2019. Instead, a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is now in the works. And EA Motive still has a Star Wars project in the making, which is said to be a bit smaller overall.
