You can finally find the finale of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch“Season 1 at Disney+ in the streaming program. The ending leaves some questions unanswered and is refreshingly reserved when it comes to the interpersonal conflicts that are addressed subtly and sensitively.
So there is no big bang, but the meaning for “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” Staffel 2 is only all the more important. If you haven’t seen the final yet, be sure to check it out at this point Spoilers warned!
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch”: What Happened in the Finale?
After this Admiral Rampart had the clone facility shot down on Kamino, the Imperial spaceships leave orbit, leaving Clone Unit 99 in the sinking facility. She now has to fight for survival together with Crosshair.
With a few smart decisions, you can avoid drowning. In the end, however, Crosshair sticks to his decision to be loyal to the Empire, and Hunter makes it clear that while they don’t have the same opinion, they don’t have to be enemies.
Hunter Crosshair also explains that he’s just a number for the Empire. The destruction of Kaminos, even though Rampart knew Crosshair was still in the facility, is certainly gnawing at Crosshair.
Meanwhile, the clone Nala Se is brought to an Imperial cloning facility where she is supposed to teach scientists. The knowledge from the Kaminos cloning facility is therefore not lost.
Free Will: Are Clones Like Droids?
A short scene in episode 16 should be mentioned. When Wrecker accuses Crosshair of never making contact, tech intervenes. He mentions that it’s in Crosshair’s nature. Nobody, not even himself, could change it.
Droid later reveals to AZ that he’s helping the clones because he’s programmed that way. Not because he has sympathy for Omega. This parallel makes fans sit up and take notice. It is implied that the character traits of clones are also programmed so that they cannot act otherwise than as it is preprogrammed in the character matrix.
Star Wars: What’s Next for Crosshair and Clone Unit 99 in Season 2?
Hunter, Tech, Echo, Wrecker and Omega leave Kamino without Crosshair. So the unit won’t work together in season 2 either. But Crosshair’s belief in the empire has been shaken. He has felt that he does not have the value for Rampart and Tarkin that he attaches to himself.
For our heroes there is likely to be another Encounter with Rex and Gregor will be inevitable. Also with Ahsoka Tano a meeting should be imminent. Since clone unit 99 already has one foot in the rebellion, we should be able to witness the rise of the rebellion, in which clone unit 99 will be heavily involved.
Since “The Bad Batch” is a bridge between “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels“Should hit, the rebellion against the empire will take on a bigger role in the further course of the series anyway.
Star Wars the Bad Batch: what happens to Nala Se?
Nala Se is the expert when it comes to cloning. The Empire therefore has a use for them. Especially the one Imperator is very interested in cloning. Nala Se’s storyline also leads directly into that Clone Mystery of Baby Yoda in “The Mandalorian”.
Thus “The Bad Batch” could be a bridge to “The Mandalorian“hit. Also at the return of the emperor in”Star Wars 9“Nala Se is significantly involved, as the emperor was able to transfer his spirit into a clone of himself after his supposed death in episode 6.
How Nala Se’s cloning program leads to the fact that there are power-sensitive clones and whether Omega might be power sensitive is, we will probably only find out in the new episodes, which will take place in 2022 Disney + news program will come!
