Gaming News Star Wars: We finally have the answer to everyone’s question about the original trilogy!
Yes, today is May 4th, Star Wars Day. On this occasion we share with you an anecdote about Return of the Jedi – the sixth part in chronological order – and that concerns Luke.
There are probably as many planets as there are anecdotes about the Star Wars universe… On this May the 4th, a day dedicated to the cult saga, here’s one about Return of the Jedi. But if you know, this is the sixth installment in chronological order, originally released in 1983 (and recently returned to theaters). The film concludes the adventures of Luke Skywalker, a humble resident of the planet Tatooine, the hidden son of Darth Vader and Padmé Amidala, who becomes a Jedi Knight and hero of the Rebel Alliance. In Return of the Jedi, the man has completed his training and sets out to rescue his friend Han Solo and Princess Leia – his sister, by the way – who are being held back by Jabba the Hutt.
Green with anger
You may remember the scene: Luke, who is the closest to his target, is about to be slammed down the throat of a giant sand creature! But when all hope seems lost, he draws his lightsaber. A green colored weapon, not blue. For what ? As a reminder, in 1983 there were only two official colors: blue (for good) and red (for evil). What’s more, the hero lost his blue blade fighting Darth Vader… at the end of The Empire Strikes Back.
We are therefore entitled to ask ourselves why and how. As the site notes comic book, a Star Wars comic, reveals Skywalker recovering a yellow saber from an abandoned outpost. A weapon he would then have repaired | Used 1 year before the events of Return of the Jedi! “For George Lucas (creator of the saga, editor’s note), however, none of this happened,” commented the media. “Luke lost his father’s saber and built a new one to symbolize the completion of his Jedi training.” A passage from this sixth part was even turned off where we see the hero finishing the final details of his blade before leaving to help Han.
In this case, what about the color? Well, the reason is quite simple: Jabba’s minion fight scene takes place outside – under a perfectly blue sky – The original color of the saber didn’t stand out enough on screen. So it was decided to replace the blue blade with a green blade.
