stardew valley Reached another sales milestone by moving 20 million copies globally across all platforms.
The latest figures are valid as of March 2022, with 13 million copies sold on PC only.
Just eight months ago, it was revealed that the game had sold 15 million copies, which means another 5 million have been sold since the number was reported in September.
Speaking to PC Gamer, game creator Eric Barone called the 20 million milestone “really great” and he couldn’t believe the game had “reached that level.”
That said, the previously announced figure of 15 million may be slightly off, according to Barone.
“The apparent increase in the number of sales is actually because I did a more accurate count this time around,” he explained. “The old 15 million figure was underestimated because I didn’t have full information and wanted to err on the side of being too low. With the full shift to self-publishing this year, I was able to do a more thorough sales tally.”
Countless, Barone said that since launch, Stardew Valley has seen higher daily sales than ever before.
“I’m not sure why this is happening,” he said. “I hope this game just continues to spread by word of mouth, and the more people who play it, the more people will share the game with their friends. Regardless, I’m glad that Stardew Valley is still so popular welcome.”
The next game Barone is Haunted Chocolatier. Little is known about the game right now, other than that it will feature boss battles and explore “magical possibilities” that will take you beyond the usual. Like Stardew Valley, it also features gathering ingredients, but with the farming aspect, you’ll be making chocolate and running a shop instead.
The game is still in early development and has only been released for PC, but will be coming to other major platforms as well.
