Finally, Stardew Valley mobile players can meet new NPC Leo or build their own beach farms, as update 1.5 finally lands on Android and iOS devices.
Considering the December 2020 update to PC and console players, the 1.5 update has been a long wait. As you can imagine, mobile players of farming sims have been desperate to dive into Stardew Valley’s ultimate update for two years now, so it’s nice to finally see the update ported to mobile platforms.
Game creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) has apparently been working tirelessly on the port and other projects, and made it clear on Twitter that he wasn’t happy with how long the release took. Eric had to find new people to port the update to mobile devices back in July 2021, and had to make the move in December 2021 to self-publish the game on iOS.
It’s safe to say that Eric clearly had some issues with the port, which is why it took so long, and as the one-man band behind the game, there’s only so much he can do. That said, mobile players no longer have to wait to finally check out the new locations, items, and other neat features added in the Stardew Valley 1.5 update.
Meanwhile, Eric Barone has also been working on a new game, Haunted Chocolateier. With a similar pixel art style to Stardew Valley, the game has comparable gameplay, except you know you have to run your own chocolate shop and make chocolate.
There’s no release date yet, and Eric Barone doesn’t want to pressure himself, but we can expect to see it sometime in 2023…hopefully.
