Shattered Space, Starfield’s first major DLC, is a disappointment overall, except on a visual level, as this video beautifully illustrates.
Unfortunately, for Starfield’s first major DLC, Shattered Space doesn’t have much to offer other than great art direction. The matter becomes even more obvious when you consider that a space PC and numerous mods further enhance the beauty of the game. Digital Dreams delights us again on this point and takes the opportunity to turn Bethesda’s latest title into an unofficial Star Wars game.
Stars in your eyes with this ultra-modified video from Starfield
Starfield and Bethesda unfortunately didn’t use Shattered Space to generate the new interest in the game that it really needed. Aside from the beautiful planet Va’ruun’kai, there’s not much in the DLC that would justify a 30 euro entry ticket. The open world it offers may be pleasant to look at, but it’s terribly boring to explore. Same observation for a story that clearly doesn’t do justice to House Va’ruun’s potential.
However, like many Bethesda games before it, Starfield can rely on modders to spice up the experience and gameplay, while Shattered Space delivers almost nothing in this regard. The matter is illustrated excellently in this video from Digital Dreams. The famous YouTube channel offers us a magnificent journey in 8K among the stars, on a PC version modified to the smallest detail for masterful graphics. It also showcases Star Wars mods like a The Mandalorian skin or Luke’s speeder in A New Hope instead of the recently finally unveiled buggy.
Of course, to achieve the same visual results in the game, you’ll need to equip yourself with a truly monstrous PC: RTX 4090, Ryzen 9 7950X, 64GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM and a fast SSD. But the journey is worth the detour, as the Starfield DLC lacks its basic formula.
