Starfield is far from over and Bethesda plans to bring lots of exciting new things in the future. We also already have a t aste of Bethesda’s plans.
Bethesda Game Studios recently responded to a Reddit thread regarding Starfield update 1.8.88 and revealed many details about the game’s patch rollout plan for next year.
2024, a great year for Starfield
First, the developer will add support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 and Intel XeSS in early 2024, as well as several Quest fixes currently in development. Simply put, this FFSR technology allows the game to run more smoothly and with better image quality, even on computers that are not particularly powerful. It works by dynamically adjusting the game’s resolution: when the action is intense and requires more resources, the resolution is lowered slightly to maintain fluidity, and when possible the resolution is increased to improve visual quality.
Intel XeSS is a similar technology developed by Intel. XeSS also aims to improve the graphics performance of games. It uses artificial intelligence to reconstruct high-quality images while maintaining high frame rates. This means that even if your computer cannot normally handle a very graphically demanding game at high resolution, with XeSS it can produce images of similar quality while being “lighter” on your system. Blessed bread for those who don’t have a combat PC at their disposal.

Additionally, the BGS teams are working on city maps, native mod support, and all-new travel options, potentially hinting at new planet-exploring vehicles. Bethesda plans regular updates, approximately every six weeks, with smaller patches in between. A very good thing, we have to admit.
Although the details of the next major update have not yet been revealed, players are looking forward to the comprehensive modding tools planned for 2024. With all of these updates, Bethesda Game Studios promises to enrich the Starfield experience by offering not only technical improvements, but also new ways to play and interact with the game world. These new features, which are particularly anticipated by the gaming community, are intended to significantly strengthen the attractiveness and sustainability of Starfield.
This is even more important when we know to what extent modding, to name just this aspect, has benefited other Bethesda productions such as Skyrim.
