In case you didn’t notice: Shattered Space, the first expansion of Starfield, has been available since yesterday evening, and at the same time there is a patch with a lot of improvements.
Starfield is certainly not the high-flyer on the gaming radar at the moment, but at least the first expansion called Shattered Space was launched late yesterday afternoon and there is also an update with plenty of bug fixes and optimizations.
Shattered Space itself takes you to a new, hand-crafted location with a new story, side quests, new equipment and plenty of new locations. You explore Va’ruun’kai, where a failed gravity experiment is causing a lot of problems, especially since the leader of the metropolis there has disappeared.
It is practical that you can start Shattered Space quite early in the game, although it is recommended that you only start at level 35 in order to experience the optimal balancing, otherwise the new factions in the game might give you a bit of a kick.
Getting started doesn’t work entirely automatically; you have to take your ship into a system in which there are otherwise no missions and hope that the station “The Oracle” appears – if not, hop into another system. The opening quest is called “What Remains” and starts on the said space station. Well, and then have fun.
Chic: along with the DLC, Bethesda has also released a new update with version number 1.14.70 and it has a lot of optimizations on board. Among other things, performance and stability will be improved and the graphics quality should also benefit thanks to better lighting. In addition to a few gameplay revisions, there is also a long list of fixed quest bugs, some locations have been revised, the ship builder received some fixes and the user interface has also been heavily refined.
Bethesda has the entire thing on X/Twitter Patchlog for update 1.14.70 for Starfield published, check it out if you’re curious.
