Following Starfield’s latest update, Bethesda has revealed that it has a lot planned for the RPG game next year, including some new features themed around “new ways to travel.”
Yes, now that the fairly healthy pet asteroid issue has been resolved, BGS are clearly not done with the game just yet, and they decided to take to Reddit to show players what they can look forward to once the calendar rolls into 2024. Sadly, there’s no mention of whether one of the planned additions will be based on support from “adoring fans.”

In response to a post about Starfield’s August 1, ’88 update, Bethesda revealed: “We hope to have it out before the holidays.” “We’ve been working hard to resolve many of the issues you posted and are anticipating an update early next year that will include a number of ‘in-progress’ mission fixes as well as FSR3 and XeSS,” it continued telling players, “While we’ve fixed some of the Mission issues, but ongoing mission fixes are harder to fix, and we built a new system to correct these issues without having to roll back saves.”
Then, things really get juicy. “We are still work ing hard on many fronts [the] Stay tuned for the new features you’ve wanted, from city maps to mod support to all new ways to travel! ” Some of these are things that game developers have mentioned or publicly discussed in the past, but it’s the latter that’s really going to be refreshing for players, assuming it means you might not have to walk anywhere after landing on a planet.
“These will be rolled out with fixes and updates on a regular basis, which we expect to happen about every six weeks. If something can be done in a smaller patch in the middle – like an asteroid – and we think it’s safe, we’ll address that too One of the questions,” Bethesda added.
So, it looks like you’ll have some reason to stay in space next year, even if you’ll lose your little pet rock family.
