Starfield finally got its first land vehicle this week, with Bethesda announcing the free update at the Gamescom Opening Night event to coincide with the release date of the Shattered Space DLC. While it almost certainly won’t change your mind if you weren’t interested in the game, it has at least spawned a host of interesting vehicle mods.
When the trailer for the Rev-8 off-roader was released, we all saw it skidding at the speed chosen for the car montage, which has always been the case, but the speed is still very impressive.

Ever since the buggy update was released on August 20 and everyone started driving off more than half the population of New Atlantis in hit-and-run situations, the kind of behavior you’d normally only expect from Trevor Phillips or Homer Simpson, there’s been a pretty hilarious scene of vehicle modding on Starfield’s Nexus page.
Many of the titles currently listed are either model swaps for the default off-road vehicles or new additions to the spacecraft mechanic’s garage, allowing you to take on a classic Jeep, the STAG N-Forcer from Saints Row: The Third, and of course one of Halo’s Warthogs as your pick. Oh, and there’s a classic NASA Lunar Rover, too.
My favorite so far is the classic landflyer from Star Wars: A New Hope – even if you want C-3PO in the back and Chewie in the passenger seat, it seems like you’ll need to use some other mods.
Then, there’s the van. This isn’t a bad vehicle at all, with Crimson Fleet logos on the sides and big, fat tires, and you can drive it across desert planets and dusty moons, and it’s definitely not loaded with stolen goods.
Of course, some tuners have also just tried to improve the regular Rev-8, with one tuner adding a tuned version dubbed the “Rev-9” that claims to have “increased torque, speed, and the ability to instantly generate additional boost power” to the technicians.
Finally, modder Shadedness has even released a tuning mod for any vehicle (even modified ones), which currently allows you to modify the damage done by the vehicle’s weapons and enable it to store 250KG or 500KG of cargo. “This may require some further functionality and tweaking based on feedback – vehicles are a brand new feature and will likely continue to evolve,” the modder wrote.
