Starship Troopers: Extermination – Reveal trailer for the co-op shooter shows hordes of bugs
After the strategy game Terran Command brought the world of cult films to life, the co-op shooter Starship Troopers: Extermination will soon let you compete against giant killer insects. For the reveal, the game only shows a short trailer, which you can watch above, but it already reveals a lot about its gameplay features.
Developer with shooter experience
The name of the developer studio responsible will be familiar to some shooter fans: Offworld Industries also developed the hardcore shooters Squad, Post Scriptum and Beyond the Wire. Like these, Starship Troopers: Extermination 2023 initially in Early Access on Steam
12 player co-op
But how should the new co-op shooter play at all? Apparently you not only kill as many bugs as possible during your missions, but also build bases and fulfill goals. The developers already present some of the most important features in their announcement, we summarize them for you:
- Co-op with many players: Groups of 12 players should be able to go into battle together. These are divided into squads of 4 soldiers each.
- Three playable classes: You go into battle as Assault, Provisioner, or Defender, each with their own playstyle. By playing with a class, you unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities for them.
- defense systems: Refineries house valuable resources that you can collect and use to build defenses. You build walls, towers, ammo boxes, guns and more.
- Five different enemies: At the start of Early Access, you’ll encounter five types of bugs: Drone, Warrior, Rifleman, Plasma Grenadier, and Tiger Elite bugs. Apparently, other enemy types will follow later.
- Big map: First of all there should be a big map with five different zones. Here you should be able to fight against hundreds of bugs at the same time. During your missions, the risk of bugs will also steadily increase, and more and more dangerous enemies will appear on the battlefield.
- Secondary Objectives: To make the missions easier for you, you can complete additional objectives, such as recapturing refineries and bases and destroying hatcheries.
- Ping-System: As in some other shooters, you can mark targets, enemies or locations for your teammates, which should facilitate communication in the squad.
