At the end of the year, SteelSeries is expanding its range of helmets with the Arctis 7+ and Arctis 7P +. Autonomy seems to be at the center of manufacturers’ interests here.
The two new products in the SteelSeries catalog are wireless headsets. The “+” symbol is intended to indicate to the user that the versions are updated. In this case it is (in particular) a better battery compared to the more classic Arctis 7. The autonomy is actually estimated at 30 hours compared to around 24 hours for the previous model. So there is a real difference.
Better connectivity
The connection is also more successful with a quick charge function, which should give the user three hours of autonomy for 15 minutes of charging time. Always very handy before a trip or when you just need to use an electrical outlet in a public place.
To keep gamers happy, as this is primarily goal number 1, SteelSeries added a USB-C dongle. This should improve cross-platform billing, namely on PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch or even Android smartphone computers.
What to Expect in Audio Rendering
On the audio side, because the music lover who sleeps in all of us is also interested, there are 40 mm neodymium speakers as well as a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz, an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 98 dB. The frequency response of the microphone is 100 – 6500 Hz with an impedance of 2200 ohms. At 2.4 GHz, the range of the headset is 12 meters.
The only big difference between the Arctis 7P + and the 7+ headphones is a special design for the sound and simply differs from the 7+ model by a design thought for 3D sound.
Sonar: The SteelSeries audio software
SteelSeries shows on his side that purchasing one of the two headsets allows early access to the Sonar Audio software. It’s a complete audio ecosystem that offers several things: the addition of 7.1 surround sound, the ability to change many of the audio properties of its headphones, and other features coming in 2022.
