Stellar Blade seems to be doing well and is selling well above expectations. Developer Shift Up is now apparently thinking about squeezing a little more money out of the brand.
Running at Shift Up. Stellar Blade, the action title about the curvaceous heroine Eve, has at least exceeded expectations in terms of sales and also received solid ratings. The development studio now seems to be willing to build on this success. At least that is what the studio announced in its application for the IPO on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index.
The future plans for the brand are extensive and include DLCs and collaborations with other major brands, as well as new gameplay elements. The studio is also considering releasing a PC version and developing a sequel. A PC version would also be of interest to publisher Sony, who has just successfully brought another Playstation title to the PC with Ghost of Tsushima.
The documents state: “AAA console titles such as God of War and Final Fantasy have sold over [66 Millionen bzw. 185 Millionen] copies sold. There are many examples of AAA titles developing into franchises by extending their lifespan through a series of high-quality sequels and maintaining a long-term monetization base. For this reason, we are exploring the possibility of a PC version of Stellar Blade and a sequel.”
In addition to further work on Stellar Blade, Shift Up already has another project in the pipeline, a multiplatform cross-play title called Project Witches. The title is currently in early development and is set to launch worldwide for console, PC, and mobile with cross-play in 2027 or later. It is described as Shift Up’s “next-gen mega-subculture that will surpass Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.” Games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Fate/Grand Order are cited as examples of such subculture.
