Stellar Blade’s jitter physics system hasn’t made its way to Steam yet, but The First Descendant is starting to fill that void

Like it or not, the discussion about butt-shaking video games never stops. After weeks of heated and cold discussions about the costume and shaking physics of the protagonist of Stellar Blade, the topic has now turned to… the shaking physics in another South Korean-made game.

This time the topic is Nexon’s free-to-play loot shooter The First Descendant. The servers for The First Descendant went live just a few hours ago, and it’s already one of Steam’s biggest releases of the year, with a staggering (and growing) number of players.

So far, so good, but what if I told you that there’s more to the game than just gear grinding and shooting?

One of the game’s characters, Bunny, has been a hot topic in character design for The First Descendant. If you can’t guess why, it’s all about her… her impractical outfit, not to mention her exaggerated bouncing physics.

Reviews for The First Descendant on Steam have been mixed, but many of the positive reviews have praised Bunny’s character design and costume, with some even comparing it to Stellar Blade’s EVE. “Sony’s butt-twisting game isn’t available on Steam, so here goes,” one Steam user wrote.

And, as you might expect, ASCI’s bunny art is fairly common in positive reviews for the game, like this one celebrating the bunny wrap, this one impressed with the back end, and many more like it.

Aside from all the talk of asset management, the general vibe of the game seems positive. Aside from some poor communication about release/download times, and a series of server issues that prevented some players from getting content they paid for, it seems like most players are enjoying the game’s combat and item grind.

Indeed, as players spend more time in The First Descendant, especially towards the end game, balance and RNG issues may become apparent over time. As always, we will keep you updated.
