Do you remember March of this year? That time felt like five minutes ago, and also like a century ago. Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released around that time, and if you haven’t played it yet, it might be worth picking it up now, thanks to a big patch and a free trial.
If you didn’t try DD2 when it came out, or gave up on it quickly, that’s fine, but you might have missed out on some really great stuff, especially if you like playing games that require constant asking for directions, like when you’re on vacation in the country and your dad left the map at the cabin.

You’ll be able to play the first two hours of the game for free starting on June 27 or 28 (depending on which of the three platforms you’re on – PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC) and running until July 18. Don’t worry, if you finish playing and then decide to go ahead and buy it, you’ll be able to use your free trial save data with the full game.
So, it’s at least an evening of free fun, and an option to not waste all of George Costanza’s hard work in the character creator. Also, as I mentioned above, the game just got a big patch released.
What’s in it, you ask? Well, arguably the biggest highlight is a fix designed to improve framerate in NPC-heavy areas, which has been one of the game’s biggest talking points since launch, leaving everyone’s hardware in a state of turmoil. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will also now have the option to switch graphics settings between high and low, and toggle 120Hz output on and off, another feature that should help performance, with Capcom noting that “further framerate improvements are planned for future updates.”
In addition to these tweaks, the ability to sell items and equip armor from the storage menu has been added. Also, you can now store up to 999 items in storage at a time, rather than just 99, which is a boon for hoarders. Also, if you hate walking, it’s now easier to find cattle carts in the fields.
Well, that’s it. Let us know below if you plan on rewatching DD2 this weekend.
