No matter how much you ask, Days Gone 2 isn’t happening, and Bend Studio would rather you stop asking about it.
Days Gone is an interesting game. It was clearly one of the blockbuster single-player games that Sony was once known for, even taking the final slot at the E3 show long ago. Behind the scenes, however, it seems to have ultimately been a flop – the game’s director claimed it sold as well as Ghost of Tsushima, but management made it look like a disappointment. Judging by the reviews, it did well, with mostly positive reviews, but it wasn’t as warmly received as many of Sony’s other first-party games. Despite this, it was released on PC, and some fans are hoping for a sequel, but Bend Studio’s community manager Kevin McAllister had to shut down any speculation about Days Gone 2.

“I apologize to the Days Gone community for the false hope and misinformation being fed to them by those who are only looking for likes,” McAllister wrote. “This is not fair to you. We are currently working on a new IP and when we have real news to share we will release from our studio.” McAllister appeared to be referencing a tweet from Days Gone screenwriter John Gavin, who recently shared that the game was originally intended to be a spinoff trilogy.

In a reply to a user who claimed that reports of a sequel were manufactured based on Garvin’s tweet, McAllister noted, “All of these titles are from previous developers, which puts us at a disadvantage. Like I said, people need to like it. It’s time to move on.”
Apparently, Bend Studio hasn’t revealed what it’s currently working on, and there’s no indication of when that content might be announced, but at least in a year of constant layoffs and studio closures, it’s still doing something.
