Stranded Deep It is one of the most damn games that you can currently throw yourself in the face. Their multiple dangers and how easy it is for a game to go to waste make it a title that requires you to always have your eyes wide open.
To help you in that task we have created a Stranded Deep guide in which to talk about all those tricks and tips that the game does not tell you and they will be vital to you to reach the end. I wish someone had taken my hand at first as we intend to do next.
First steps on the island
Patience, the mother of science
Craving and believing that you can handle everything is one of the main mistakes to make in Stranded Deep. Because no, you cannot continue exploring that sunken ship even if you still have some oxygen left, you will not be able to return home before nightfall and you will not be able to endure a few more minutes without eating or drinking. Patience above all and try to control any unforeseen that may arise. It is survival, not a race.
Save your game. And then do it again
Another resource that is easy to forget. It doesn’t matter if everything seems controlled and your next steps promise to be brief and safe. Guard. Check that everything is as it should be in terms of health and mobility and ensure your game in case anything goes too far 20 seconds later. Better that than running here and there looking for a solution to your problem.
Secure large amounts of water
Your main objective on the initial island is to ensure a good reserve of water. Create one or more water filters and put palm leaves on its base to get it going. Not only will you constantly need it to hydrate yourself, you’ll also be glad you were proactive when you start planting your garden.
Collect fibers and cassava first
Fibrous sheets are one of the items that most worry you at the beginning of the game and, in fact, one of the least headaches that will give you. Both cassava plants and small palms are replenished every one or two days, so even if you do not find any on the island, dedicate yourself to something else because they will not take long to appear. Precisely for this reason, collect as much as you can whenever they are available so you don’t have to worry about waiting.
Mindful of everything poisonous
Lilac starfish, snakes, moray eels and the damn lionfish. Those are from now on your greatest enemies, so constantly watch out for them and try to avoid them at all costs. Poisoning always comes at the worst time, and it can bother you with relative ease.
Secure Piss (not that piss)
To avoid suffering more than the above account, you will need a coconut with rope as a bottle and two Pipi herbs. They are difficult to find because being green they camouflage themselves quite well in the undergrowth, so whenever you have a free space without much to do take advantage of looking for them.
Don’t gorge yourself on coconut
Coconut is one of the best starting assets. After peeling it you can drink its water and, once empty, you can break it to eat its interior. Of course, do it two by two and with breaks between them or you will end up with stomach pain and vomiting that favor dehydration.
The king of crafting
Resources are scarce and do not reappear
You may see a lot of palm trees, stones and other materials on your first walks, which will undoubtedly lead to a false perception of abundance on the island. Nothing is further from reality. Everything you harvest, except in the case of plants that provide fibrous leaves, will go to the fret once collected and will no longer return. That does not prevent you from leaving the island under minimums, but be careful with basic things like coconuts and plan well what you are going to use your materials for.
You can see what’s in each recipe
If any crafting recipe resists you can always press the “examine” button to understand what makes up that object and get an idea of where to find it. Except for vehicles and their parts, everything you can build is extracted from materials that you can collect or find on wrecks.
Create things even if they are not in your inventory
Your inventory is limited, but that doesn’t mean you have to constantly change materials. If they are on the ground near you they will also be marked as being in your possession, so get close to that pile of sticks nearby if you want to create something with them instead of picking them up.
Do not give much importance to your house
Although it is great in promotional images and videos, the use of a shelter is quite anecdotal and will only serve to create shade and decorate. Make sure you have enough supplies before boarding a construction because it can leave your inventory shaking.
Your main objective should be to create a raft
Focus your efforts on everything you need to create a raft with face and eyes. That everything you do is focused on that milestone sooner or later. It will be vital to have a motorized or sailing vehicle that allows you to move between islands at a higher speed and carrying more materials on your trips.
Better the fishing spear than the rod
Returning to the idea of saving mode, take advantage of the fishing spear to get food on the banks or your dives. Do not waste time or materials on the cane because it is much slower and inefficient.
Go for the pick instead of the ax
Another similar case is that of the beak, which will serve you both to cut trees and to extract stones and mud. One tool is better than two, especially for your low inventory, so use peak force as a measure of austerity.
Better the hunting spear than the bow
Same as above. Although it is true that the arrows of the bow are faster and it is easier to target the pigs that run here and there, the basic spear is more than enough for the purpose. Also, do not waste resources on the improved lance because its usefulness does not compensate for staying with materials.
Attentive to the durability of your objects
Like in many other games, in Stranded Deep the tools don’t last forever, so it’s best to pay attention to their durability before going out to explore. You don’t want to run out of oxygen or a good ax before you’ve reached your goal.
To navigate
In search of pigs and potatoes
At a certain point you will have no choice but to leave your island, but beyond the objects you find in sunken ships you will not find any interesting news that is worth the trip. Of course, focus on bringing to your island the more pigs and potatoes the better. You are going to need them.
Do not venture beyond the neighboring islands
The map is shaped like a rhombus, so it will be easy for your island to be surrounded by four or five other similar islands. You can go to them with the inflatable raft, but doing it is a slow and heavy process that the raft with sail or motor eliminates completely. Don’t venture to go too far because the return can be boring. Wait until you have a raft with a sail or motor before going further.
A spring can be very helpful
A good way to keep your rafts under control is to create a dock in which to drop the anchor (although it is less comfortable but it is recommended to drag them to shore to avoid wasting stones on an anchor). However, the main asset of the pier is to create it next to a sunken ship and take advantage of the structure to hunt sharks from a safe place.
Create something to mark where you come from on each island
Every time you travel to an island try to do it in a straight line and, once on the shore, create something like a bonfire or leaf tent to mark where you have come from. Also where have you left if there are no more buildings on the island. It will be very useful to understand what path you have taken if you get confused.
Destroy trees on small islands as a guide
Visualize which island you have stepped on and which cannot be a toothache when you have already had several steps. A good way to mark them is to create a high structure or, easier and cheaper, to destroy all the trees on the island. So you can see well from afar if you have been there or not.
The boundary of the map is marked with virtual buoys
If on any of your trips you reach a kind of virtual buoys in a straight line, turn around because you have reached the limit of the map. Don’t bother venturing further, but try to remember where that line was because it can come in handy towards the end of the adventure.
Surround the virtual buoys if you can’t find the special islands
If you have come this far, you have a good raft or vehicle and you want to face the final stretch, congratulations, it has not been easy. Now you must find two islands. One with an abandoned aircraft carrier and the other with an oil rig. The second will give you access to the latest missions in the game and the first your passport to its final cinematic. To find them, follow the line of buoys to go around the perimeter of the map.
