“Stranger Things” season 5 will be filmed later this year, after which the fans and the stars of the series will have to say goodbye to the Netflix hit. This is particularly difficult for Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo.
- “Stranger Things” ends with the upcoming 5th season and saying goodbye is not only difficult for the fans.
- Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo now reveals why the conclusion of the Netflix series is associated with a “deep fear” for him.
For fans of “Stranger Things”, the finale of the Netflix series may still be far too far away, after all, the start is not expected until 2024 at the earliest, but for the actors, the big farewell is already on the schedule this year.
After a long commitment like ‘Stranger Things,’ such an ending brings mixed feelings, especially when many of the cast started the show as kids, became adult stars, and are now doing without ‘Stranger Things’ for the first time. While Hopper actor David Harbor recently revealed that he’s delighted with the series’ conclusion and that Millie Bobby Brown shouldn’t have any trouble landing the next project, other actors lack that certainty.
Gaten Matarazzo, who stars as Dustin in ‘Stranger Things,’ responded in an interview with Jimmy Fallon surprisingly honest when asked if the series ending was bittersweet for him:
Of course it is. There’s a kind of excitement because you always want to see how these characters evolve one last time and how they’re going to end their journey. But there is also a deep fear. Not only was it fantastic, but it was a pretty secure job for a while. Back to freelancing.
Gaten Matarazzo
While Matarazzo was involved in a few films between seasons of Stranger Things, those were more of small roles or small projects. That wasn’t too bad, since the well-paid return to “Stranger Things” was always due shortly afterwards – that will soon be over.
Dustin is a fan favorite, but the highly distinctive role could mean Matarazzo gets accused of lack of versatility in casting. If Matarazzo doesn’t immediately come up with a new project after “Stranger Things”, he would still have to return to the theater, after all Matarazzo has already appeared on stage in “Les Misérables”.
