Stranger Things Season 5 takes us to the grand finale of the hit Netflix series. Will actor Noah Schnapp has now announced that filming for the final episodes will begin soon.
- With the 5th season, “Stranger Things” celebrates the grand finale of the science fiction saga.
- Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer see it as the perfect ending to the adventures of Elf and friends.
- According to leading actor Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), filming will begin in May 2023.
“Stranger Things” is so successful on Netflix that the streaming service lets the Duffer brothers decide for themselves when the series should end. This allows the two showrunners to tell their story at a pace that makes sense to them, without stretching the plot or rushing to a conclusion.
This is how Season 5 will mark the end. That comes as no surprise, after all, the main actors of the series are now adults, but Netflix would certainly have preferred more seasons. We tell you everything about the end of the Hawkins saga.

Stranger Things: When does Season 5 start on Netflix?
There is no start date for season 5 yet. However, Will Byers actor Noah Schnapp announced during a live stream on Instagram that he will start filming in May.
I’ll finish school in May and start shooting in May.
That actually sounds very plausible and would fit with the fact that the new “Stranger Things” season is expected in the first half of 2024. The Duffer brothers promised that the wait until Season 5 will be shorter than the long dry spell leading up to Season 4, but of course 2 years is a long time.
Stranger Things: The Story of Season 5
The authors are still hard at work on the scripts, meanwhile it’s already known that episode 1 will be titled “The Crawl”. Of course, not much can be derived from the plot here, except that something or someone will crawl. Maybe Eddie will crawl back from the shadow world after all.
It should be certain that the remaining open questions from Season 4 will be answered in Season 5, after all, the Netflix hit is supposed to conclude all storylines.
In addition, it is already known that Season 5 will begin with a time jump that may even catapult us several years into the future. A daring decision after the cliffhanger finale of season 4, but the main actors and actresses are so obviously older than their characters that Elfi and Co. now have to age as quickly as possible.
Incidentally, the running time of the episodes in season 5 should decrease again after the 4th season consisted almost entirely of overlength episodes. The series finale, on the other hand, will again last over two hours, which the Duffers can already confirm.
Stranger Things Season 5: Cast
According to the current status, all main characters of “Stranger Things” should be seen again in Season 5. In other words, those who were still alive at the end of season 4 will also return in season 5. That includes Sadie Sink as Max, although of course her fate hangs in the balance.
A return of deceased characters is of course also possible in the world of “Stranger Things”, although it is unlikely that we will know in advance of guest appearances of this kind. As is so often the case, patience is required here. In the meantime, you can change your mind with suitable series alternatives or browse the Netflix news program for exciting highlights.
Stranger Things Season 5: Production
In August 2022, the writers and producers began work on Season 5 of Stranger Things. At the time, they posted a picture of an empty whiteboard with the “Stranger Things” logo on Twitter.
It looks like the shooting of the series can start soon. If leading actor Noah Schnapp is to be believed, then he will be returning to Hawkins in May 2023.
