Update from June 25, 9 p.m.: Meanwhile, streamer Dr Disrespect has spoken out on X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed the allegations made against him. In fact, offensive private messages to a minor were the reason why he was banned from Twitch in 2020. He also admits that he “leaned too far in an inappropriate direction” and that he takes responsibility for that as an “adult, husband and father.”

The messages were sent in 2017 and the case was settled in civil proceedings; there was no criminal case. You can read the entire statement here:

Even our own development studio separates

Now the developer studio Midnight Society, which Beahm co-founded, also announced known, that they are separating from him because of the allegations:

On Friday evening we learned of an allegation against one of our co-founders, Guy Beahm aka Dr. Disrespect.

We assumed he was innocent and began talking to the parties involved. In order to uphold our principles and standards as a studio and as individuals, we had to take action.

For this reason, we are ending our relationship with Guy Beahm with immediate effect.

While these facts are hard to hear and even harder to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of everyone involved, especially the 55 developers and families we employ along with our community of players.

The streamer himself has not explicitly denied the allegations, but in a post on X he claims that no wrongdoing has been proven against him. He cannot comment further on the matter for legal reasons.
