Data volume is a scarce commodity, and many applications are used on our smartphones. Streaming videos and concerts on the go eats hundreds of megabytes. But Telekom has a simple solution to this problem: the "Stream On" option. Therefore, Telekom customers can enjoy unlimited streaming-as long as the service used is a Stream On partner. At the same time, the telecommunications group has been able to recruit more than 440 partners.

StreamOn social and chat

Since June 2019, StreamOn social and chat has become a new category of StreamOn options. If you book this book, you will no longer count WhatsApp, Tinder, and Snapchat in the used data quota. StreamOn Music

With StreamOn Music, you can listen to music anytime, anywhere, without increasing the appointment volume. Telekom has received 250 music streaming partner services. StreamOn contains many popular music streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, Audible and Apple Music. Currently, StreamOn Music can be obtained for free at the following Telekom tariffs:

Therefore, only the old MagentaMobil XS contract does not include StreamOn Music. Because all more expensive contracts will provide you with StreamOn music and videos-and StreamOn Music is already included here.

Until September, the addition of "Max" also brought a decisive advantage to "MagentaEINS" customers. As part of StreamOn, Telekom has provided 124 partners in the field of video streaming. Since April, partners "Smyle" and "Pantaflix" have also been included.

You can also be satisfied with the number of participating video streaming services. There are Netflix, Amazon Video, MagineTV, Sky Go and Sky Ticket, as well as the numerous media libraries of German TV stations. These include the ARD media library, ZDF media library and 7TV.

StreamOn games

StreamOn Gaming allows you to play online and multiplayer games on your smartphone and can be booked for free from MagentaMobil S. Again in the overview:

StreamOn Gaming now includes 33 games. Among them are titles such as Fortnite and Pokémon Go. The "Shakes and Fidget" game was added in February, and there was no innovation in April and May.

Please pay attention to StreamOn

When using StreamOn, it should be kept in mind that when using all options, loading album art, advertisements, games and other content that is not part of the audio or video stream will be counted in the data volume. Similarly, with StreamOn Gaming, the loading of advertisements and other content that is not part of the game content is also counted in the data volume. Although this should not take up too much data, it is still worth mentioning.

The following also applies to StreamOn: If the volume included in the contract is used up, the related bandwidth speed will also have a complete impact on the StreamOn content. If the inclusive capacity of the basic rate has been exhausted by other data usage, and the bandwidth is limited to a maximum download speed of 64 kbit / s and an upload speed of 16 kbit / s, the bandwidth limit also applies to StreamOn Gaming. Therefore, if you no longer have any data volume, the Telekom option will not help. This option does not include the minimum contract period and can be terminated daily.

You may also wonder why as a MagentaMobil XL or MagentaMobil XL Young customer, you should book the StreamOn option completely free of charge? After all, in any case, German tariffs provide an unlimited amount of data for surfing and streaming. However, the foreign limit is 32 GB. If this is not enough abroad, you should book the corresponding StreamOn option for free, just in case. Because you can also use them in other EU countries. However, there are some limitations to consider here, which we will explain below. Because StreamOn options in other EU countries are not "unlimited", but their performance is based on the monthly basic price.

Special functions when using StreamOn

When using StreamOn, some things to consider are not found on the Deutsche Telekom website. We can find the following restrictions in the PDF file, which contains detailed information about other options for Telekom tariffs:

• When using a VPN connection, StreamOn is not applicable.
• StreamOn is only applicable if you are using the current version of the partner application.
• StreamOn is not suitable for network sharing.
• StreamOn is limited to certain partners' services, for example, the download of covers and lyrics is deducted from Spotify's regular data quota. Voice and video calls made through Messenger will also increase your data volume!
• StreamOn can also be used abroad, but there are some restrictions (see below).

Use StreamOn for free abroad

As of September 2019, you can also use StreamOn in other EU countries. However, although you can use the StreamOn partners in Germany unlimitedly, there are still certain data quotas abroad. Deutsche Telekom uses a fairly complex formula to calculate. this is:

If the data required for tariffs is used, the formula will quickly become clear. Let us take the magenta Mobil M tariff as an example. Net 40.45 Euro I do n’t have a smartphone for a month and offer you Free StreamOn music. Includes the highest regulated wholesale wholesale roaming fee applicable in 2020 3.50 Euro. If you put these numbers in the formula, the result is 23.1.

StreamOn alternative: use offline mode

If you are not a Telekom customer and do not want to switch, you should consider using offline mode, provided that the mode is available in the corresponding application. Of course, pre-planned downloads are not a substitute for spontaneous streaming on the go, but if you must pay attention to the amount of scarce data, then offline mode is at least safe.
