Street Fighter 6 is officially available today – and at least on Steam, Capcom’s new beat ’em up has already gotten off to a great start.
Street Fighter 6 fans now have the chance to play the new part of one of the most popular series of the genre with Street Fighter 6 – and at least on Steam many gamers have obviously already done so. The PC version of Capcom’s beat ’em up got off to a great start there; At least that’s what the numbers show.
Right on the launch day, 65,873 gamers played Street Fighter 6 at the same time; that comes from data from SteamDB out. With that, the title immediately breaks a record, because Street Fighter 6 is already the top fighting game played by most players at the same time on Steam. In any case, this applies if you only include paid genre representatives and hide free games like MultiVersus with a peak value of 153,433 players at the same time.
To date, however, no other title has been able to hold a candle to Street Fighter 6 in terms of the number of players among the paid premium fight games – and that so early after the release. In particular, the current main competitor Mortal Kombat 11, which is not exactly considered a flop, lags well behind the numbers of the Capcom title on Steam. The NetherRealm title, which has been available for some time, has peaked at 35,147 simultaneous players since launch.
In short: Capcom should be more than satisfied with the PC launch, especially since the weekend is still ahead and the chances are therefore good that the top value will be improved again. Even now, at the time this message was written, over 53,000 players are playing Street Fighter 6 again.
