The new film adaptation of the fighting game franchise Street Fighter has now been given a concrete release date, but is still looking for a director.
Last year, Capcom and Legendary Pictures confirmed that they were working together on a new live-action adaptation of Street Fighter. With Danny and Michael Philippou (“Talk to Me”), they had a directing duo on board, but they recently dropped out due to scheduling issues. Nevertheless, the project seems to be making good progress in terms of planning.
This conclusion is now possible due to the fact that the new film has now been given a release date. Accordingly, the new Street Fighter film is scheduled to be released in US cinemas on March 20, 2026.
Despite the now confirmed start date, the project still needs new creative minds to implement it. Both the director and writer positions have yet to be filled, but considering the date announcement, Legendary Pictures may already have solutions in store that just need to be finalized.
The current video game Street Fighter 6 recently welcomed a popular character, M. Bison, as a new addition.
