At first it was just rumors about DayZ, now developer Bohemia Interactive has officially confirmed it: the studio in Bratislava was recently closed. According to the Tweet, this was done in agreement between management and the studio managers. On the future development of the survival game the whole thing should have no effect:
We recently closed our Bratislava studio. It was a mutual decision between management and studio leads, and we want to thank all team members for their contribution.
This decision won't affect the future dev. of DayZ, which will continue as outlined here: https://t.co/iXt1gntkTa pic.twitter.com/Ca6nKH4KcW

That is the future plan for DayZ
It is not clear from the tweet whether the Bratislava studio was still working on DayZ at the time of the closure. That the employees are thanked “for their participation” does not sound as if they were taken on at other locations. But there is still no official statement on this.
Shortly before the closure was announced, DayZ announced on Twitter that the development of has not been stopped, however Updates with a longer interval will come out.
At first, rumors were circulating about a closure at Reddit, where an alleged former employee spoke up. He also claimed there that support for DayZ would be discontinued. However, the posts were quickly blocked by the moderators because no evidence was provided for his statements – except for a reference to poor ratings for Bohemia Interactive as an employer.

Ex-DayZ developers go to THQ Nordic
After the official confirmation there are no longer any doubts, the leak was at least partially correct. However, Bohemia Interactive insists that DayZ's future support should continue as planned. In a blog post about DayZ 2020, they gave some in January planned updates known:
- According to the developer, some gameplay features have "urgently needs improvements". These include the Basic building, Environmental influences, cooking and that Disease system.
- Also at the Server stability as well as the game performance should be worked on.
- The Mod support is to be expanded to continue tinkering with the creative community at DayZ.
- New content is also planned: that's the way it should be new and original weapons give.
Development with obstacles
The development of DayZ suffered from many stumbling blocks. The game was first for five years in early access, then it was released as a full version on Steam at the end of 2018. However, many players complained about missing or only slowly delivered features. Even under that current tweet from Bohemia Interactive unsatisfied voices were heard again, complaining about bugs and problems with the game.
However, the new large DLC map Livonia, which was released in December 2019 and actually came from Arma 3, received pretty good Steam reviews. The newer user reviews for DayZ are largely positive overall.
