If you currently have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and have been wanting to try Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope, this week is the perfect time.

I often forget about Nintendo’s game trials, but every now and then, when one pops up, I think “Oh, cool, that’s really handy!” In fact, that’s exactly what happened today, as Nintendo shared earlier this week that this week’s free game trial is for Ubisoft’s Mario + Rabbids: Light of Hope. If you’re not aware of Nintendo’s game trials, it’s a pretty simple system: they let you download the full game for free (as long as you’re subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online, so it’s more of a bonus), with the only restriction being that it’s only free for a certain amount of time. In the case of Mario + Rabbids, that time is from today (July 8) to the end of this week (July 14).

To be clear, this isn’t just a demo – this is the entire game you’re downloading, which means if you have enough time this week, you’ll be able to play through the entirety of Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope from start to finish without paying a penny more than you paid online. It’s actually pretty doable, too, at least for Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope, which runs at just over 20 hours according to Playthrough Time. If you’re a completionist, you’ll probably have more trouble than that, but for anyone without a ton of time on their hands, it’s worth a try.

Mario + Rabbids: Light of Hope has been out for two years now, and is the sequel to 2017’s critically acclaimed game, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. The sequel was just as well-received, with our Tom even giving it 4/5 stars, so this free week is definitely worth it.
