Gaming News Succeed without doing anything? Some players are experiencing a strange phenomenon
Achievements, these small virtual rewards, are very popular mechanics among players and are especially integrated into Steam, pushing completionists to collect them all. It just so happens that one of them unlocks by itself in a very specific title…
The Universim, a title that is already highly anticipated
We first heard about The Universim in 2014 at the start of crowdfunding: from then on, the Crytivo studio received particular enthusiasm for its title that requires the player, nothing more and nothing less, to manage an entire civilization by giving them full power. In technical jargon we call it a “god game” and it is a genre that has already received some big names, like Populous by one Peter Molyneux.
In particular, one of the peculiarities of the project is to propose a spherical playing field that represents the planet in its entirety, making visible the influence of its civilization there. Over the years of development and a growing budget, the developers were able to expand their ambitions by working intensively on the random generation of terrain that was particularly rich and complex. Because yes, Once our civilization discovers the possibility of flying to other skies from nothing, the conquest of space and other planets will be possible, and the universe must then surprise its community with vast and new worlds to explore.
In short, a major project that has been available on Steam in Early Access since 2018: The launch of version 1.0 is therefore planned for January 22, 2024, just a few days from now. And apparently some players already have some… strange surprises in store.
When success comes by itself
Especially available on Steam, several players are noticing an unusual phenomenon: An in-game achievement will unlock and appear in his stats even if he has never started The Universim. The challenge is called “Genesis” and requires you to create your very first civilization in the game, one of the first achievements you can unlock. This mysterious unlock was noticed by several internet users, all of whom claimed to have never started a single game.
For some, this would be due to an anti-piracy measure, while others consider it a pure error. ; Still others point to the success condition of the achievement (0/0 instead of 0/1), which would then lead Steam to believe that it has already achieved everything necessary to unlock the achievement.
Crytivo has not yet commented on the matter, the studio must already be busy in that fateful time when in a few weeks they will finally release their baby after a whole decade of pregnancy. If you wish, You can therefore pre-order The Universim on Steam for the price at this address. The game is also available for Mac and Linux.
