The big US trade fair E3 is now history, but you still don’t have to miss out on a big event in the summer. Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest will be back in 2024 and now has a date.
There used to be the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. At the major US trade fair, virtually all of the gaming industry’s major new announcements were made as part of individual press conferences, but the format is now a thing of the past. Instead, more and more shows by journalist Geoff Keighley are becoming the most important general events in the industry – after the Game Awards in December, the Summer Game Fest in the summer is now also happening.
That quasi-E3 replacement is scheduled to take place again in 2024. As it has now been announced, Summer Game Fest 2024 will be broadcast for the fifth time on June 7, 2024. The aim is to present and celebrate future innovations from the field of video games. The stream will consist of a number of game announcements, trailers and more and starts on the specified date at 11:00 p.m. German time. You will be there live via YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, XSteam and other platforms.
After the kick-off with the big stream, there will be the Day of the Devs: SGF Edition format, which will be broadcast immediately afterwards and offer further information from the games industry. There will also be the SGF Play Days. This is a media and influencer event in Los Angeles that runs from June 8th to 10th, but only allows invited guests. Some titles presented at the showcase can be played during this time.
The Summer Game Fest has quickly proven itself as an E3 replacement. Last year, more than 34 million people interested in gaming tuned in to the streams. At that time, Mortal Kombat 1, Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Baldur’s Gate III were presented, among others. And this time?
