To all of you who have been calling for 10 people to collaborate online Super Mario Odysseytoday is your lucky day, because now there is a mod that does just that.
What is Mario, if not just a little guy? He might be one of the best little guys! Unfortunately, he’s also mostly alone, but a new multiplayer mode for a group of fans tries to change that (thanks to VGC).Simply titled Super Mario Odyssey Online, the mod allows up to 10 players to hang out in various kingdoms in 2017 Nintendo title.
“Have fun exploring the kingdom with friends, playing game modes or beating the game as quickly as possible,” reads the trailer’s description. “This mod is still in early development, so please expect bugs and imperfections as we work to improve it and make the mod as perfect as possible.”
In addition to being able to play with up to 10 players, features include full 2D and clothing model synchronization, moon collection shared between all players, and support for custom game modes, although currently a work in progress.
This mod comes from CraftyBoss, who has made many different mods for Mario Odyssey in the past. Looking at the trailer, Online looks as natural as Nintendo made it itself. It’s probably better than it can do, though, given the company’s shaky history with online multiplayer.
Since its launch five years ago, Super Mario Odyssey has proven to be a hugely popular game. As of March this year, sales reached about 23.5 million units. That fits nicely with the 103.5 million the Switch itself has sold, making it Nintendo’s best-selling home console and solidifying its position as one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
