Gaming News Supervive, this indie game from League of Legends veterans, that’s surprising!
A perfect mix of MOBA and battle royale, Supervive promises dynamic and entertaining games with friends. This software is appreciated by both enthusiasts and beginners. We tried out the demo during Steam Neo Fest and there’s a good chance it’ll be a huge success!
Supervive is described on its site Steam page as “a battle royale MOBA combined with a hero shooter”, and that’s probably the best way to put it. Looking at the pictures, you might think you were seeing the child of League of Legends and Fortnite. The project is led by Theorycraft, the studio that has been working on it since 2021. The company includes alumni from Bungie, Blizzard and even Riot!
In the main battle royale mode, you have several team configurations available: duo or 4-player squad? Or do you prefer playing in the arena? The latter is a 4-person team game mode. The teams compete against each other over several short rounds in a smaller area than in BR. The goal: to achieve the best result in terms of eliminations. In the arena you can try your luck multiple times, even if you die in the first round.
The perfect cocktail
We were able to test classic battle role games in duos and squads in more detail. At the start of the game, teams land on a large map consisting of several flying islands. Be careful at the beginning! Like in Fortnite, you need to avoid the area that will deal damage to you as it gets smaller as the game progresses. The camera is not in third person, like in Epic Games’ famous battle royale, but in a top view à la League of Legends. Like in LOL, you can choose your role by selecting different types of hunters. For example, the “Front Lines” that take damage or the “Protectors” that heal.
No two games are the same, and you’re sure to never get bored in Supervive! Progress through the game by conquering territories and unlocking vaults filled with powerful items. Fight bosses to collect resources that will allow you to improve not only your protective equipment (helmet, weapon, boots…) but also your “skills”, i.e. your attacks. The goal is simple: to be the last survivors. You evolve in a magical environment and fly from island to island with your glider. An environment that Justin Groot, the studio’s narrative manager, describe “Organic”. Flying isn’t the only way to get around this world, there are actually teleportation portals that are useful for surprising opponents!
The next eSports star?
This MOBA definitely has great advantages to become the darling of eSports. In the interview at Game RantTheorycraft CEO Joe Tung explains that he wanted to make a title “immune to trends.” CThat is, the goal is to offer solid, consistent and lasting playwithout necessarily having to imagine a competitive dimension in advance. This arises naturally when players decide:
When someone asks me, “Are you making the next eSports darling?” I usually answer, “When people tell you they are doing it, they aren’t.” -Joe Tung at Game Rant.
What is certain is that there is always something happening around you on Supervive. This is not a negative point, on the contrary, it is actually quite pleasant to gradually understand how the game works. A beginner will never be useless in his first game. For example, in Squad, teams are balanced to consist of players with different skills. During this test, the duo games proved to be most enjoyable while playing Oath, a tank-type character. This configuration provides a quieter time between fights. The player and his friend can then attack surrounding monsters to gain resources and thus develop their skills before facing real opponents. Playing loudly with your teammates is an added advantage as it allows you to implement more organized attacking strategies. The final version of this free-to-play game is still in demo version and will be available at the end of the year without further details.
