Surprise! Octopath Traveler 2 is suddenly available on Xbox. If you prefer, you can also play it on PC through Game Pass.
The announcement comes shortly after a patch was released that added some extra combat after the story, as well as other quality of life updates. Also, if you don’t want to play the game on Xbox or PC through Gamepass, there’s a discount on Steam right now for those who want to save money in other ways.

We gave Octopath Traveler 2 four stars in our review, noting that it was slightly better than its predecessor. Reviewer Alex Donaldson wrote: “Octopath Traveler 2 takes the successes of its predecessor and improves on them gently, making for an enjoyable JRPG that shares many of its predecessor’s shortcomings.”
This surprise announcement comes just days before Summer Game Fest and Xbox’s own showcase, so if you’re a gambling type, the odds of seeing a trailer promoting the game are relatively high.
Judging by Square Enix’s financial reports since the game’s release, it’s safe to say that Octopath Traveler 2 didn’t exactly exceed sales expectations. But despite this, it’s a great game that’s worth your time and money. If you subscribe to Game Pass, even better. You can play this decent RPG for free.
