Without warning and quite unexpectedly, although not yet released, the Nintendo Switch 2 has its first officially confirmed game.
The first game officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, which was secretly announced, is knocking the rug out from under events like Nintendo Direct. Will it be a new Mario, Zelda, the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4, or another game from Big N’s iconic licenses? Well, none of that really.
A surprising first official announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2
While we expected a big-fancied announcement for the very first game to officially launch on Nintendo Switch 2, it was more of a complete coincidence that this happened. More specifically, it’s independent Chinese studio Pathea Games that was able to proudly announce its new game After My Time At Portia and My Time At Sandrock. The sequel, called My Time At Evershine, will therefore launch at an as yet undetermined date on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and “future Nintendo platforms not yet announced.” So translate that to Nintendo Switch 2. Note that this last mention was obviously edited after the trailer was released below. For now, a crowdfunding campaign is being launched for this new game Kickstarter
As a reminder, Pathea Games’ games offer life simulation gameplay relatively similar to Stardew Valley, but in 3D. However, My Time At Evershine is not just about building your little world, but also about running it. The title will integrate new features such as a narrative campaign, motion capture animations, large environments and cooperative multiplayer. So many elements that should shine on the more robust Nintendo Switch 2.
Developers are officially working on the next console
Although this is clearly not the first official announcement we have been expecting for the latter, it is still a strong sign that studios are hard at work developing games for the Switch 2 when it is due to be released around March 2025. Nintendo has yet to make a formal announcement for its highly anticipated console. Patience is also required for this. Current rumors suggest a presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2 by the end of the year. But the Japanese manufacturer does not seem so keen to move on.
