A horror saga that will soon be adapted as a children’s book? That’s the somewhat amusing bet Disney is making for next year.

Alien, the Eighth Passenger, the first cult feature film in Ridley Scott’s saga, was released in 1979 and later became a pillar of horror science fiction. At that time, the performance frightened so many spectators that some even ran out of the hall. We don’t know how true this is, but it’s definitely an anecdote that Terry Rawlings, the film’s editor, recently told: “The room was fantastic. The sound was excellent. It was the most incredible premiere I have ever attended. People screamed and ran out of the room“. And as frightening as it is, the story of this unforgettable saga is being adapted into a children’s book by Disney. As you can imagine, it is still toned down for very obvious reasons.

The book is considered a light-hearted reimagining of the film, which follows Ripley and the Nostromo crew as they introduce the alphabet from A to Z. A great way to educate yourself while discovering an iconic work. The cover of the book has already been revealed and it’s honestly pretty adorable. Release is scheduled for next year in the US, with no further details revealed. The book is published by Golden Books as part of the Little Golden Books series, a very popular American collection for children that already includes a number of adaptations of Stranger Things, Marvel films and other iconic licenses of our time.

The saga will soon be back in cinemas

After the prequels Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, theThe Alien saga will soon return to our screens with a film called Alien: Romulus. The production comes from Fede Alvarez, a gentleman you’ve already seen in the credits of other flagship franchises that have made a comeback, such as Evil Dead in 2013 and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2022, both of which have Rotten Tomatoes scores 57/100 rises and 34/100… Here’s hoping his next feature escapes these disastrous setbacks. Scheduled for release on August 14th, it will be a standalone film set in the same universe as the six other Alien films. In any case, Ridley Scott has already called Alien: Romulus “great” and even praised the writing of the dialogue. This project is part of 20th Century Fox’s strategy to “re-evaluate” the saga after the box office failures of “Alien: Covenant” and “Prometheus”. And if you prefer the classics of the time, know that Aliens, the Return will be released in 4K Ultra HD in the US from March 12th.
