That Fortnite always trumps itself with spectacular actions is nothing new, just think of the black hole and time travel. Even with a performance by a DJ in demand worldwide, Epic was able to win for the Battle Royale with the marshmello appearance and thus a unique concert broadcast.
This concert seems to have been trumped: US rapper Travis Scott was the second star on the virtual stage last night, and this performance was tough. We review the evening for you and tell you how to make up for the concert.
This is how the concert went
The concert started with a prank: In the northwest of the well-known Fortnite Island, golden Travis Scott heads and a stage on the water where the concert was supposed to take place were automatically created during the week. However, this turned out to be misleading, because instead the entire map was the stage!
At the beginning of the concert, a planet-like construct flew towards the audience on the platform, which then exploded. Already a gigantic Travis Scott descended from the sky and trampled on the map during the concert.
It became psychedelic: However, that was only the beginning of a concert that was only 15 minutes long, but it was a tough one. During the show, for example, the audience was teleported underwater and could look at a giant diver, as well as a Cyborg-Travis-Scott, who also changed at another point in the concert.
Epic learned from past mistakes: One of the biggest criticisms of DJ Marshmallo's concert, the first Fortnite virtual concert a few months ago, was the annoying HUD. This meant that the concert could not be enjoyed undisturbed, but this problem has now been resolved. Some of the emotes were also restricted so as not to disturb the show. Instead, there were emotes specially tailored to the concert, such as the possibility of headbanging.
Insane success: Over 12 million players took part in the original event, setting a new record. In addition, there were a good three million viewers via various streams. In total, this is almost twice the number of players who are currently on the move across Steam (via SteamDatabase on Twitter
The developers have increased enormously compared to the last appearance and gave fans of the game as well as the music an unforgettable experience. Critics and users overwhelm themselves with praises, describing the concert as "surreal and spectacular" (via TheVerge). The Washington Post even sees it as an “experience for eternity”. But what if you missed the show?
So you can catch up on the concert
If you missed the concert and still want to take part in the psychedelic online stage show, there is good news: Epic did not plan the performance as a single concert as previously at Marshmallo, but as a kind of tour. The Travis Scott concert will take place a total of five timeson the following dates:
- Friday, April 24, 2020 at 3 p.m.
- Saturday, April 25 at 6 a.m.
- Saturday, April 25 at 5 p.m.
- Sunday, April 26 at 12:00 a.m.
All you have to do to watch it is to find yourself on the platform described and enjoy the concert. The platform should appear about 30 minutes before the respective performances and thus usher in the concert. By the way, you don't go away empty-handed when you visit the show: In addition to the music and the unique experience, a new glider in the form of a roller coaster and two special loading screens await you.
