According to Spanish website Vandal, the report also states that not only will the Joy-Con controllers be larger, but the new Switch will also be larger than the current model, but not as big as the Steam Deck, according to accessory manufacturer sources.
The Switch 2 is said to be compatible with the current Switch Pro controller.
Back in February, reports emerged that the yet-to-be-confirmed Switch 2 had been delayed internally, pushing it back to 2024 and into the first quarter of 2025 to ensure the console had a strong launch lineup (perhaps Elves Pokémon: ZA”?). Previous reports have suggested that the Switch successor will be a hybrid with a larger screen.
Other previous reports claimed that Nintendo had secretly demonstrated the features of the new console at Gamescom 2023. Documents also surfaced during the FTC v. Microsoft case. Claims Activision Blizzard was briefed on “Switch NG” in 2022 and will feature performance on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Switch 2 is also rumored to feature an Nvidia Tegra T239 chip, an octa-core ARM Cortex-A78C CPU, a 12 SM Ampere GPU, and 128-bit LPDDR5 memory. The console is also said to support DLSS and ray tracing, with various development sources claiming that demos showed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running at 4K/60fps. It is said that the 8-inch LCD screen is produced by Sharp.
According to reports, the Switch 2 will also be backwards compatible with digital and physical Switch games, some of which will also receive support for enhanced features.
Until Nintendo sees fit to release the Switch 2, or whatever the company calls it, keep all of this as a rumor.
