This New products development has released its February 2022 report covering video game hardware, software and accessories sales in the United States.
Consumer spending on video game hardware, content and accessories fell 6% year over year to $4.4 billion in February 2022, according to NPD. There was a decline across the board, but hardware saw the biggest year-over-year decline. Year-to-date spending reached $9.1 billion, down 4% from the same period in 2021.
hardware Dollar sales were down 27% year over year to $295 million, and year-to-date dollar sales were down 5% year over year to $685 million. The decline can be attributed to persistent supply constraints.
In February 2022, the Switch was the best-selling console in both units and dollars. The Xbox Series X/S ranks second in both units and dollars. Year-to-date, PlayStation 5 sales lead the way.

In its second week on sale, Elden Ring was the fifth best-selling game for the 12 months ending February 28, 2022. Elden Ring was No. 1 on Steam and Xbox and No. 2 on PlayStation in February.
PlayStation-exclusive Horizon Forbidden West was the second-best-selling game of the month and the best-selling game on the PlayStation platform. Dollar sales for the PS5 version set a new release month record for the console.
Total War: Warhammer 3 debuted as the fifth-best-selling game of the month, and was also No. 2 on Steam.

This month, the United States mobile Gaming spending fell 2.5% year over year. The top 10 games for February were Candy Crush Saga, Roblox, Coin Master, Genshin Impact, Pokemon GO, Garena Free Fire, Evony: The King’s Return, Clash of Clans, Homescapes, and Royal Match.
sales Accessories It was down 7% year over year to $180 million. Year-to-date, accessories sales fell 11% to $365 million. The Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller was the best-selling accessory in February and year-to-date.
