System Shock is considered one of the absolute classics of game history and should now be brought into the modern age in the form of System Shock 3. However, the project does not seem to be doing well at the moment and even an official setting is likely to be in the room.

System Shock 3 development is apparently in serious trouble right now, given a new report by English-speaking colleagues from VGC May believe. Accordingly, large parts of the responsible development team have meanwhile left the Studio OtherSide Entertainment and thus the project itself.
In the last five months alone, System Shock 3 is said to have lost the responsible Director, the Design Director, the Lead Programmer and the QA Lead. Another (ex) employee who wishes to remain anonymous also confirmed that the development team at the studio was "no longer employed".
Over two dozen previous System Shock 3 developers have theirs LinkedInProfiles have already undergone updates and suggest that they no longer work at OtherSide Entertainment. And that in turn does not bode well for the actually very promising sequel to the cult classic.
System Shock 3 had more serious problems at the start of development a few years ago, but seemed to have gotten the curve. The Swedish company Starbreeze was supposed to be the publisher, but it ran into financial difficulties in February last year. Since then, OtherSide has been looking for a new publisher for the sequel. Although there was talk of "a lot of interest", this search does not appear to have been successfully completed to date.
Creative Director Warren Spector had also hinted at the time that the studio's war chest was still full enough to push ahead with the development work. In view of the obvious reduction in the team and the departure of numerous important team members, the future of System Shock 3 is currently more in question than ever. Will the game be officially discontinued shortly? We will keep you up to date on this!
