Many players don’t seem to realize where the paraglider was obtained in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which led to Impa kidnapping everyone.
Spoilers ahead!
While the tutorial area in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is more linear than Breath of the Wild’s Great Plateau, once you leave the giant sky island, there may be fewer directions on where to go than in the first game . So much so that many players miss out on one of the most important items in the game: the paraglider. While you initially get the paraglider by completing the Great Plateau section in Breath of the Wild, it doesn’t seem that clear to some players in Tear of the Wild.
All in all, getting a glider isn’t complicated, it’s just easy to miss, which turns the Impa into a 20th century-style criminal. Early in the game, you’ll meet Impa at a particular stable, checking out Geoglyphs that pop up around Hyrule (need help finding them? We’ve got you covered). Once you start talking to her, she’ll ask if you can help her rebuild her hot air balloon, and once you’re done, you take to the sky with her. Then, after you’ve had a good look at the Geoglyph, she’ll say you can paraglide down. One problem for some players is that they don’t have a paraglider, which means Impa essentially kidnaps Link.
Many players have been sharing their experiences on Reddit, with some players asking what they need to do to get it. Thankfully, as IBurnedTheLettuce shared, you can rest easy without it, you just have to almost kill Impa. If you manage to destroy the balloon or put out the fire, a brief cutscene will play and the Impa will scream “Ah! I’m falling! Help!” before cutting to black. When the game resumed, you were back on the ground safe and sound.
Or, you can jump off and ride on a horse, as this player did. Very simple!
I thought Impa gave me a paraglider…
