Most people know the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as happy and relaxed. With the comic series The Last Ronin, however, this situation changed, here everything is much darker and more mature. Paramount is now using this material as the basis for a new video game.
In 2020 the comic series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin starts, which differs somewhat from the previous material about the mutated turtles. The reading material has become comparatively calmer, darker and more mature. An ideal template for a video game, at least that’s what Paramount thought.

Speaking to Polygon, Doug Rosen, senior vice president for games and emerging media, detailed the studio’s plans. First of all, he owes us an exact date or release platforms. Even the exact developer studio remains a secret at the moment. It will probably take “a few years” before it’s released.
Like the comic book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin will be aimed at an adult audience. In contrast to the toads’ last games escapades, such as Shredder’s Revenge, multiplayer will not be the focus. Instead, it’s supposed to be a character action game with a hero. Who that is should be well known to fans of the template.
Rosen cites the God of War series, for example, as inspiration, which makes you sit up and take notice. In terms of story, The Last Ronin will stick closely to the template, as a single Turtle you plot revenge for your brothers and friends in a New York of the future. Accordingly, we can probably hit it with the four classic Turtles weapons: nunchucks, sai, bo staff and double katanas.
Rosen did not want to explain exactly when we would be given fresh information. It will be at some point in the coming months. Until then you can while away the time with Seth Rogen’s animated film Mutant Mayhem. But this will hardly be darker.
