Game news Tekken 8: Bandai Namco gives a serious hint about the release date
Announced with great fanfare last September, Tekken 8 is certainly a highly anticipated title and will mark the renewal of a cult saga: only Bandai Namco hadn’t announced a release date here until then. But recently we have a clue that we need to take seriously…

After many years of good and loyal service, we suspected that Tekken 7 would have to make way for a sequel, be it a sequel or a reboot. It was this first choice that Bandai Namco finally opted for, presented last September Tekken 8 with the help of an opulent trailer (which can be (re)discovered above, by the way).
In program ? A story set years after the events of the seventh installment, this time focusing on a Jin who gets unhinged and once again defies his father Kazuya. Also and above all The engine will be Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games’ brand new tool that promises to beautify most of the great next-gen experiences. It’s all well and good, but… when is it coming out?
Tekken 8 and 2023 ?
So far, the game’s release date has been a mystery, but a first element of the answer lets us see more clearly: Tekken 8 could very well be released in 2023. During a call with investors from Bandai Namco, One of the latter asked for “new experience value” games to be released in 2023. The Japanese publisher replied:
We are planning a variety of projects. Tekken 8 is also in development with a goal of launching in fiscal year 2023 or later.
Fiscal year beginning on April 1, 2023 and ending on March 31, 2024, Tekken 8 should therefore be released during this period and therefore probably in 2023. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to compare it with the release of previous games: Tekken 7 was released in June, Tekken 6 in November, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in September… We’ll have to wait until we have a specific month in sight.
