Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is rapidly approaching completion and release in September. But there is still a lot of information available beforehand, including a beta phase.
With the release of Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown approaching next month, KT Racing is releasing some more information, and some of it may not be to the liking of potential fans.
Let’s start with the two graphics modes that will be available at release. Anyone hoping for smooth 4K will definitely be disappointed. Xbox Series X/S and PS5 will get a performance mode that will give you 1080p at 60 fps. The quality mode is limited to 1440p at 30 fps. Once again, no sign of 4K, that is reserved for PCs with powerful graphics cards.
You can find out whether that’s enough for you under certain conditions in the next two betas – both are supposed to include a work-in-progress quality mode with 30 fps. The VIP beta has been running since today and can be taken by those who pre-order the Gold Edition of the game. This VIP beta ends on August 18th.
Collector Edition and Silver Streets/Silver Sharps Editions
This will be followed by a closed beta, which starts on August 27th and runs until August 30th. This is reserved for those who pre-order the physical Collector’s Edition and the Silver Streets/Silver Sharps Editions, including of course those who pre-ordered the Gold version, who will be able to try it a second time.
There is currently no more talk of the previously announced open beta, but it has not been officially canceled either. We’ll have to wait and see if KT Racing has anything to say about it. The final game is scheduled to be released on September 12th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which suggests that the beta phases will primarily focus on online play, server stability and any remaining bugs.
