WoW Classic is getting bigger, because Blizzard releases new (old) content bit by bit. The team continues to stick to the content phases established at the release. Phase 3 started in February, the developers have now announced a release framework for phase 4 and also the gates for two classic test servers pushed.
When does phase 4 begin & what's in it?
Blizzard announced the planned release for phase 4 in the official forum. However, this is still a somewhat rougher frame and not an exact date. In addition, not all content is published at once, but over several weeks.
The Arathi Basin appears in the week of March 10th:
This is a new PvP battlefield where teams of 15 players compete against each other. It is about conquering various strategic points and holding them until you have collected enough resources and thus wins the game.
Zul'Gurub & the green dragons follow in April:
Zul'Gurub is a new raid in which a total of 20 players can participate. The raid is known for the fact that there are two coveted mounts to dust with the Zulian tiger and the Razzashiraptor. In addition, the four green nightmare kites Ysonder, Smariss, Lethon and Taerar appear in April. These are classic world bosses guarding various nightmare portals.
What can you expect on the test servers?
As in other games, these so-called PTR (Public Test Realm) serve the simple purpose of testing new content in an active game environment.
On these servers you can try out updates that are actually only published much later. That's why you can already find the Classic content here, which is only planned for phase 4. Namely the Arathi Basin, the World Bosses and Zul'Gurub.
How do I get to the test server?
When you start the WoW launcher, you should find a version selection at the bottom left and above the large, blue play button. Here you just have to switch from "World of Warcraft Classic" to "PTR: World of Warcraft Classic".
In the realm selection you can then decide whether you would rather start on a PvP server or start in PvE. The servers are also open to copy characters. So you can simply transfer your classic hero to the test realm, or you can build a completely new test character.
